Tim Barker serves in the York County District Attorney’s Office as Chief Deputy Prosecutor’s Policy and Research. He began his career as a prosecutor in March of 1998. Mr. Barker has served on the amicus committee of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association since 2000. Prior to working as a prosecutor, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Linda K. M. Ludgate, Court of Common Pleas in Berks County.
Mr. Barker is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and protocols for the District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Barker also specializes in prosecuting complex litigation cases from inception of charges through the trial and appellate process. In this capacity, he litigated many complex and high profile homicide, homicide by vehicle, child abuse, elder abuse and economic fraud cases. Mr. Barker also served as both a state and national instructor on a variety of legal topics.
Mr. Barker received the 2007 National Traffic Safety Award for Prosecutors, presented by the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators, for his vehicular homicide prosecution of the owner of a dump truck that killed two individuals and injured eight others in Glen Rock. Mr. Barker also received commendations and certificates from York County law enforcement agencies for meritorious prosecutorial assistance.
Mr. Barker received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Dickinson College in 1991. He received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1995. Mr. Barker is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is also a Life Member of the National Eagle Scouts Association, Boy Scouts of America.
